The Greatest Women Football Players of All Time
The women's game has improved immeasurably in the last few decades and is growing in popularity. Understandably it is still far from the strength of the men's game but we think it deserve its own list of great players. This is an all time list but due to the rising quality most names are from recent years, although it does stretch back to the 1920s with Lily Parr. Our top 10 greatest are presented in alphabetical order (thanks to our contributor Mate Čičmir for preparing the list). With four consecutive World Player of the Year awards and an astonishing 92 goals in 95 games it is clear that the Brazilian Marta is the greatest female player of all time. The other names come from around the world, and show that the top countries in the women's game (other than Brazil, Germany and England) are very different to those in the men's game (e.g. USA, China, Japan). Please let us know how you think the other rank, and who we might have missed.
