Coach: Bela Guttmann
Achievements: European Cup 1962; Finalists 63,65, 68.
Key Players
: Eusebio, Coluna, Augusto, Aguas, Torres, Costa Pereira
Star Player: Eusebio
Formation: W-M

The side on the left is the Benica team that won the European Cup Final in 1962. Benfica had already won the previous year and by now Eusebio had entered the first team. He was to win European Footballer of the Year in 1965 and be the star of the 1966 World Cup. Marshalled by the great playmaker Coluna and coached by the innovative Hungarian Bela Guttmann, the team appeared in the final again in 1963 but lost to Inter. They continued to be a major force, losing to a great Manchester United side in the semi-final in 1966, and losing again to them in 1968 final. Nevertheless they were dominant European club side in the first half of the 1960s.
