Brazil 1958-62

Picture
Brazil 1958 World Cup Final

Coach: Feola / Moreira
Achievements: World Cup 1958, 1962
Key Players: Pele, Garrincha, Didi, Vava, Zagallo, Zito, N. Santos, D. Santos, Gilmar
Star Player: Pele, Garrincha
Formation: 4-2-4

This could be the best side of all time. With better players position-by-position than the more fondly rembered 1970 Brazil team. This team won two back-to-back World Cups - in South America and Europe. They had a world class player in almost every position (except perhaps central defence) and is the only team to have included two all-time legends (Pele and Garrincha), who would be the star players of two consecutive world cups.

The team was also tactical revolutionaries twice over: with a new 4-2-4 formation in 1958 they then switched to a 4-3-3 in 1962, with Zagallo dropping back when they won the World Cup without the injured Pele. Most of all they were a joy to watch.
